Russian invasion forces hit the city of Nikopol with up to 40 shells overnight, Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Valentyn Reznichenko reported on Telegram on Nov. 5.

“Last night … was hot. Our air defenses did a great job,” he wrote.

According to him, the Russians shelled Nikopol with Grad multiple launch rocket systems and heavy artillery.

“They shelled from the area of temporarily occupied Enerhodar city in Zaporizhzhya Oblast,” he wrote.

“Chervonohrivka, Marhanets and Nikopol districts were affected.”

Reznichenko said Nikopol was affected the worst, and that up to 40 shells had impacted the sleeping city.

Two fires broke out as a result of the shelling – firefighters successfully extinguished the fire.

“Half a dozen multi-storey and detached houses, utility buildings and a gas pipeline were damaged,” the governor wrote. “Russian shells struck a local lyceum (school), and industrial and transport enterprises as well. Businesses and property are affected.”

Meanwhile, Ukraine's South Air Command also reported that another Iranian Shahed-136 drone had been downed. The flying bomb was shot down in Synelnykivske district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

There were no casualties or injuries.
