Combined Russian strike targets Poltava Oblast

Two people were injured in the Lubny district after direct hits and falling debris from unidentified missiles and Geran-2 drones when Russian forces attacked Poltava Oblast overnight, regional Prosecutor’s Office reported on June 2.

Officials noted that the victims suffered acute stress reactions. The strike also damaged the production facilities of a private company, three residential buildings, and outbuildings.

Prosecutors have launched pre-trial investigations into two criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).

Yuriy Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, told ArmyInform that in addition to Kyiv, Russian forces struck Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Poltava Oblast with ballistic missiles.

Mass Russian attack on June 2

Overnight on June 2, the Russian army deployed 729 aerial attack weapons against Ukraine, including 73 missiles and 656 UAVs of various types. The Air Force data indicated the Russians launched eight 3M22 Zircon anti-ship missiles and 33 Iskander-M ballistic missiles. The main target of the strike was Kyiv, but Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Poltava Oblast, and other areas also came under attack.

The combined Russian attack on Kyiv overnight on June 2 left at least 63 people injured and six dead. The wounded include three children aged 3, 11, and 17.

Destruction of residential buildings, fires, and damage to civilian infrastructure were recorded across eight districts of the capital, with rescuers continuing to eliminate the aftermath of the attack.

In Dnipro, 11 people were killed, including two children and a rescue worker. The strike damaged residential buildings, a local enterprise, a fire station, garages, and civilian vehicles in the city, while hits were also recorded in other districts of the oblast.

Explosions were also heard in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Sumy.
