Munich Security Conference to highlight 'peace through strength' message

G7 ambassadors have confirmed that Ukraine’s strategy and security guarantees will be key topics.

"G7 ambassadors heard from Foreign Minister (Andrii – ed.) Sybiha about Ukraine’s plans," the officials wrote.

"'Peace through strength' will be the message at the Munich Security Conference, marking the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion."

On Feb. 5, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, announced that he will attend the Munich Security Conference. He hinted that discussing President Donald Trump’s strategy will be one of his main priorities in his visit to Germany.

Bloomberg reported that Kellogg might unveil Trump’s plan for resolving Russia’s war against Ukraine at the Munich conference.

The agency noted that recent statements by Kellogg and other officials have suggested a strategy based on "peace through strength." The proposed plan could include freezing the conflict and leaving Russian-occupied territories in limbo. Additionally, it reportedly involves security guarantees for Ukraine, though no details were provided.

However, on Feb. 6, Kellogg clarified that Trump’s peace plan will not be presented at the Munich Security Conference. He said that Trump himself will unveil the plan at a later date, and it will not happen next week.

The event will also feature U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s first foreign visit, underlining Washington’s evolving stance on the war.
