Mariupol residents are facing new bureaucratic obstacles in their attempts to claim compensation for their destroyed homes, yet the payment mechanism remains effectively non-functional, National Resistance Center (NRC) wrote on Jan. 9.

The NRC reported that the latest requirement involves an additional inventory process for damaged apartment buildings.

However, completing this stage is impossible, as most buildings have already been demolished, and the occupying authorities have deliberately erased evidence of destruction.

"At least 500 apartment buildings fall under this category," the NRC wrote.

Meanwhile, Russia continues to heavily promote new housing construction in Mariupol, allegedly for displaced residents. However, according to the NRC, most of these apartments are allocated to migrants from Russia’s remote regions and imported laborers, including workers from East Asian countries, rather than the city’s locals
