Police explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) specialists recovered the wreckage of a Russian Geran-4 strike drone in the Holosiivskyi District of Kyiv, the National Police reported on Aug. 26.

Following the latest Russian aerial assault on Kyiv, the Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down a Russian uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) over a forested park zone in the Holosiivskyi District. The resulting impact scattered wreckage across the tree line, sparking brush and woodland fires.

Police explosives experts deployed to the scene to conduct containment and clearing operations. Specialists surveyed the impact site, collected drone fragments, and swept the surrounding perimeter for unexploded ordnance. Preliminary assessments confirmed the platform as a Geran-4 type drone.

In the overnight barrage into Aug. 25, Russia attacked Ukraine using Shahed drones alongside ballistic and cruise missiles. Explosions were recorded in Dnipro and Kharkiv. In Zaporizhzhya, strikes killed two civilians and ignited multiple structure fires.

In Kharkiv, at least one person was killed after missiles struck an industrial sector in the Osnovianskyi District.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko earlier confirmed that falling drone debris in the Holosiivskyi District caused structural wall collapses and blew out windows across the 14th floor of a 16-story residential tower.
